All-On-X Dental Implants

Dental implants are the only permanent, fixed solution for missing teeth. They not only restore function and a healthy smile, but they also help preserve jawbone health. All-On-X dental implants are the ideal solution for patients missing all their teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

What are All-On-X Implants

All-On-X dental implants replace a full arch of teeth in the upper or lower jaw with an arch of replacement teeth. The replacement teeth are supported by a limited number (usually between four and eight) of dental implants placed in the jawbone. Unlike conventional implants, which use one implant and one crown to replace an individual tooth, All-On-X uses a few strategically placed implants to support a full arch of teeth.

Benefits of All-On-X Implants

All-On-X dental implants can be placed in a single visit using 3D imaging software and surgical guides prepared following your consultation. Because fewer implants are needed, surgical time is reduced, and there is less trauma to the jawbone and surrounding tissues.

Many benefits to All-On-X implants make them an excellent choice for anyone missing all their upper or lower teeth, including:

  • Allowing you to eat the foods you love
  • A natural look and feel
  • Stimulation of the jawbone to prevent resorption
  • Easy care: brush and floss as you would your natural teeth
  • No slipping, pinching, or clicking, unlike dentures and bridges
  • No need for adhesives or special cleaning solutions
  • Can sometimes be placed on the same day as tooth extractions
  • Less invasive than individual implants and restorations
  • Minimizes the need for bone grafting to support a full arch of replacement teeth
  • Less pain and swelling during recovery

Am I a Good Candidate for All-On-X Implants?

If you have lost all or most of your teeth in the upper or lower jaw and are in good health, you may be a candidate for All-On-X. You will need sufficient jawbone density to support the implants and be free of any active dental health issues, including gum disease. If you have uncontrolled diabetes, certain autoimmune disorders, blood clotting issues, or are a heavy smoker, you may not be a candidate.

Drs. Ornstein and Mantravadi evaluate every patient individually to determine whether they are a candidate for All-On-X dental implants.

All-On-X Steps

We start the All-On-X process with an initial consultation and exam, including X-rays and digital imaging. We then create a personalized treatment plan that establishes how many implants will be used and their optimal placement. Your dentist or prosthodontist will design and fabricate the full arch of replacement teeth in collaboration with us to ensure a perfect fit.

Surgery

On the day of surgery, your implants will be placed in the jawbone following the treatment plan already determined. Each implant is placed to minimize the need for bone grafting and maximize the stability of the restoration. Following implant placement, we attach a temporary set of replacement teeth so you can return home with functional teeth. You will be on a soft diet for the first few weeks following surgery.

Healing

The implants will fuse with the jawbone over the next few months (a process known as osseointegration). This establishes a stable foundation for the permanent arch of replacement teeth and helps preserve the jawbone’s integrity.

Final Prosthetic

When the implants are healed and osseointegration is complete, we take impressions of the mouth to create a permanent arch of replacement teeth. This prosthetic will match the look of your natural teeth and gums. Your dentist or prosthodontist will attach the final prosthetic and check it to ensure the fit is comfortable and properly aligned for eating, speaking, and chewing.
